School starts today, in the classroom, for nearly 70% of Martin County students whose parents opted for in-person learning.
Students will wear masks as they ride the bus and must stay 6 feet apart while in the classroom, in order to take their mask off.
Martin County Schools says about 38% of district students will be attending class remotely from home.
Schools will have one-way hallways to limit congestion. Students and staff will wear masks when social distancing is not possible.
Martin County is the first district on the Treasure Coast returning to school this year.
School districts in Indian River and St. Lucie counties delayed the start of school by two weeks to Aug. 24 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
