Today Walt Disney World is launching the first phase of Magic Mobile, it will be replacing the Magic Bands, an RFID chip on the wrist strap. Magic Mobile is only compatible with iPhones and Apple watches, but the ability will be rolled out to other smart devices soon.

The Magic Band worked on everything from the parking ticket to the resort room keys and of course your credit card.

After less than a decade of regular use, Magic Bands are out, and the process begins today.

Since opening 40 years ago, Walt Disney World had been the premiere destination spot for families looking to have and epic time and shop their hearts out, everything you need is right at your fingertips. If you want to enjoy some tasty cuisine, buy a new purse or simply enjoy a tasty drink you have access to all of those perks.

All guests will be able to set up a special Magic Mobile Pass in their Apple wallet which will give users a valid ticket, unlock the door to resort room and connect their Photo Pass, and access the virtual queue for Rise of the Resistance. Magic Bands will no longer be given to resort guests for free.

Unfortunately guests will not be able to charge purchases to your Walt Disney World resort room.

But no worries, that featured will be added later.

Disney also announced that the Magical Express, the free transportation from the Orlando airport will be discontinued, beginning on the first of next year.
