A mother from Hobe Sound, Florida has been sentenced to 10-years behind bars for the death of her nine-month-old son.

Heather Clifford was arrested in early 2020 after the child was found face down in the bathtub.

Authorities say Clifford placed the child in a bathtub filled with water and then went to take a nap.

She was charged with aggravated manslaughter.

On Monday, she pled no contest to the charges but did not accept guilt for the incident.

Officials say Clifford will be credited for the two years she already served.

She will also be required to pay the costs related to the investigation and court proceedings.

While the child’s father was home at the time, authorities say he was sleeping when the incident occurred.

He does not face any charges.
