Local mother accused of attacking teacher during parent-teacher conference

A  34-year-old Florida woman has been arrested after she allegedly assaulted a teacher during a parent-teacher conference.

The incident occurred at Palmetto Middle School in Pinecrest on Feb. 14th.

According to the report, staff at the school contacted Stephanie Armas because her child having continual issues with other students at the school.

On the day of the conference, the child’s social studies teacher Mayade Ersoff, made a comment that did not sit well with Armas. Armas then stood up and struck the Ersoff on the shoulder.

Ersoff also reportedly threw a picture frame at the teacher and spit on the principal’s desk.

According to Local 10 News, Ersoff reportedly told Armas: “You need to learn how to raise your child.”

Armas has since turned herself into police and faces a battery charge.

The teacher told reporters that she stands by what she said.

“No, because teachers are human beings and especially in this situation with COVID – with everything that we’ve gone through – the disrespect by a lot of the students and some of the parents, it’s just out of control,” Ersoff said.

The principal and the assistant principal where  present in the meeting with Armas.  Miami-Dade County Public Schools is currently investigating the incident.
