PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL– A 31-year-old mom is now behind bars after she allegedly removed her three-day-old daughter from the NICU unit of a hospital and stabbed several staff members who attempted to stop her.
The incident occurred around 10:36 p.m. Thursday at HCA Florida Palms West Hospital.
Authorities say Kendra Greene went into the NICU unit and removed her daughter from a ventilator. When three staff members attempted to stop her from walking out of the hospital with the child, Greene pulled out a knife and attacked all three of them.
Greene then reportedly dropped the infant off at a family member’s home before fleeing the scene.
The infant was transported back to the hospital by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and is said to be in stable condition.
Authorities also reported that the hospital staff members who sustained injuries during the attack were treated and released.
Greene has since been located and is in custody facing aggravated child abuse and aggravated battery charges.
