(West Palm Beach, FL) — A 41-year-old man who impregnated a 13-year-old girl told investigators that “voodoo” made him repeatedly rape the girl.
Jean Innocent was charged with one count of incest, one count of impregnation of a child and two counts of sexual battery of a child in familial or custodial care earlier this month.
Authorities began investigating Innocent after the child went to St. Mary’s Medical Center with abdominal pains on Dec. 19th. Staff members discovered that the child was six weeks pregnant.
The child told staff members that Innocent had been sexually abusing her over the summer, with the last time occurring in November.
Authorities then staged a controlled phone call with the child and Innocent with them listening in on the child’s end.
The child told Innocent that she’d been throwing up and that the doctors wanted to do a pregnancy test.
Innocent told the child “to say no and began making up a story to tell about a relationship with a boy named ‘Semen.’”
Later, Innocent reported that “he believes his pre-ejaculation could have caused her to become pregnant.”
Innocent went on to tell authorities that he raped the child in September and November and that “voodoo” was to blame.
His bond has been set to $28,000.
