A Pompano Beach area man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance and murder of his wife. 54-year-old Ian Lanning was taken into custody last week after an investigation found that a woman was murdered inside the home he shared with his missing wife. Deputies say they began investigating the disappearance of Irene Lanning Xeniti after her daughter reported her missing on May 30th. When authorities made contact with Lanning, he told them that his wife left their home on May 14th after an argument and hadn’t made contact with him since. Authorities, however, found evidence that Xeniti’s phone was last in the area on May 21st around 1:00 a.m. Authorities eventually received a warrant to search Lanning’s vehicle and the home and found evidence that Lanning killed Xeniti and moved her body elsewhere. Lanning is facing one count of first-degree murder. Authorities are still searching for Xeniti’s body. They are asking anyone who believes they may have information about this case to call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
