The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 23-year-old man who reportedly stabbed his father 13 times.

The incident occurred Wednesday at a home in Boca Raton.

Authorities say they were called to the home and found 57-year-old Miguel Alvarez suffering from several knife wounds.

When they asked him what happened, Miguel told them that he was making coffee in the kitchen when his son, Guillermo Alvarez reportedly attacked him from behind with a knife and then bit his pinky finger.

It is unclear why Guillermo attacked his father, however, his father did say the he accidently bumped into Guillermo in the hallway the day before and startled him.

The family also explained that Guillermo has a history of unprovoked attacks on family members.

Guillermo has been arrested for attempted murder.

He was also ordered by the court to stay in a facility for about three months.
