WEST PALM BEACH, FL– Florida lawmakers have introduced several bills that would push back the start times for middle and high school students.
SB 1112 introduced by Sen. Danny Burgess and HB 733, introduced by Rep. John Paul Temple, Rep. Mike Beltran, Rep. Ralph Massullo, and Rep. Spencer Roach will mandate that both middle schools and high schools across the state of Florida start after 8:00 a.m.
If the bill passes, it will go into effect in 2026 and middle school instruction will not be allowed to start before 8:00 a.m. and high schools will not be allowed to start until 8:30 a.m.
