Officials in Martin County are currently investigating after human remains were discovered at a wildlife preserve.

The discovery was made on Thursday near a “gator-infested canal bank” about three miles into the Hungryland Wildlife Preserve.

It is unclear how the remains were discovered.

Authorities with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are currently at the scene along with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

The park has since been closed to the public.
