Police in California are reporting that they discovered a live alligator in the vehicle of a suspect who was wanted on a felony warrant.
The discovery was made on Tuesday in the parking lot of a Power Market convenience store.
Authorities say they received several reports of a man who was possibly driving under the influence.
When they arrived to the area, they found a vehicle matching the description parked at the convenience store.
Investigators say they identified the driver as 29-year-old Tyler Watson of Redding, California and determined that he had a felony warrant out for his arrest.
Authorities conducted a DUI test but determined that Watson was not under the influence. He was still taken into custody, however, due to the warrant.
While he was being taken in to custody, Watson confessed that he had a live alligator on the floorboard of the vehicle.
Watson told police that he was caring for the animal for a friend.
He faces additional charges for the illegal possession of an alligator.
