WEST PALM BEACH, FL–
A 25-year-old man is dead after he was shot by his longtime friend who was handling a loaded gun.
The incident occurred at the Emerald Isle apartment complex at the 4200 block of San Marino Boulevard around 7:00 p.m. Friday.
Police say a group of friends, four men, and two women, were hanging out in the living room when one of the friends grabbed a handgun and loaded it.
The same man reportedly forgot that the gun was loaded and fired the weapon, believing he was “dry-firing.”
The 25-year-old victim was struck by a bullet and was able to walk outside of the apartment before collapsing at the staircase.
He was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries on Sunday.
No charges have been filed at this time. The victim’s name has also not been released.
