From K-pop to Prison.

A South Korean military court sentenced disgraced K-pop star Seungri to three years in prison on Thursday for crimes including providing prostitutes’ foreign businessmen.

The Defense Ministry said the former member of boy band was also fined 1 billion won.

He was taken into custody after ruling by an army court in Yongin, near Seoul.

Before his fall from grace, Senungri was one of the biggest stars in the K-pop because of the success of Big Bang, which had a huge following in Asia and other parts of the world.

Seungri, whose real name is Lee Seung-hyun, was sentenced on Thursday at an army court hearing in the city of Yongin, near the nations capital of Seoul.

Seungri left the group in 2019 after the media reported the prostitution after the media reported the prostitution accusations.

Forbes magazine reported in 2016 that the group had made $44 million in pretax earnings.

He was also convicted of embezzling money from a Seoul-area nightclub that he ran.
