Investigators in Wisconsin have arrested a juvenile suspect in connection with the death of a 10-year-old girl who went missing while returning home from her aunt’s house.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Chippewa Falls Police Chief Matthew Kelm announced that they have a suspect in custody and that there is no longer a danger to the community.
“While nothing will bring Lily Peters back or change what happened, we are very grateful to be able to deliver this news for the family and for the community,” Kelm said.
Kelm declined to give any information about the suspect other then that Iliana “Lily” Peters knew the person arrested in connection with her death.
Other news outlets indicated that investigators searched a home near Lily’s aunt’s house during the investigation but it is unclear if anything was found at the home.
Peters was reported missing by her father around 9 p.m. Sunday after she did not return home from her aunt’s house.
Investigators found her bike in near a trail in a wooded area Northwest of where her aunt lives on Sunday.
On Monday, they located her body in a wooded area.
It is unclear how she died.
