The verdict is “guilty” on two of the five counts in the sexual assault trial of former movie producer Harvey Weinstein. Weinstein is accused of sexually assaulting two women. He was acquitted on two counts of predatory sexual assault and rape in the first degree which were the more serious charges. He was found guilty on criminal sexual act in the first degree and of rape in the third degree. Weinstein was acquitted of the top charges of predatory sexual assault, which carried a life sentence. The guilty verdicts could land him up-to-25-years-in prison. Weinstein was cuffed and taken into custody after the guilty verdicts were read. Weinstein will remain in custody without bail and he will be sentenced on March 11th. He faces four more charges of sexual assault in Los Angeles. This verdict will also affect the outcome of any remaining civil cases against him. Weinstein has claimed the encounters were consensual.
