I was watching an amazing documentary on Justice Clarence Thomas called “Created Equal” for the second time this weekend. This time, I watched it with my husband, who is a black American who leans right. It brought up many emotions for us both and we were both struck by how Clarence Thomas did not minimize the effects of racism in America, particularly during the 50’s and 60’s, but refused to allow them to define him for very long.
