A Palm Beach County inmate has been transferred to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami to serve time for stealing a vehicle with a child inside.
25-year-old Armando Moyyad was transferred earlier this week on kidnapping, burglary, child abuse and petit theft charges.
Authorities say on Aug. 7, 2021, Moyyad stole a hospital employee’s vehicle that was parked outside of the UM Hospital at 1120 NW 14th St.
The employee reportedly left his wife and 7-year-old daughter inside of the running vehicle while he cleaned the foundations.
At one point, the employee requested that his wife bring him a brush he left inside the car.
Once the wife exited the vehicle, Moyyad jumped inside and took off.
The parents attempted to chase down the vehicle but then called the police.
According to the report, the child began questioning Moyyad and that’s when Moyyad said “Oh s***.”
He then pulled over on the side of the road and began going through a purse inside the vehicle.
The child tried to use her phone to call her mother but when Moyyad heard the phone ringing, he snatched it from the child.
Moyyad then fled the area with several credit and debit cards.
Authorities say Moyyad used at least of the cards three times at a Chik-Fil-A.
During their search for Moyyad, authorities were notified that Moyyad had been picked up in Palm Beach County for a separate burglary and vehicle theft.
