An inmate at a Florida jail is now facing additional charges after deputies say he tried to sneak drugs into the jail using birthday cards.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Eric Marcotte arranged to have Suboxone strips delivered to him in the mail on April 27th.
Authorities in charge of going through the mail noticed the corner of the card was peeled away. Inside the card, they then noticed a strip of tape that contained two strips of Suboxone.
Officials then made a controlled delivery of the card to Marcotte. When Marcotte accepted the card, they arrested him.
He is now facing charges consistent with the introduction of contraband into a correctional facility.
Marcotte was originally arrested in February on charges of grand theft and carjacking but, he has an extensive criminal record.
