Authorities in Missouri are reporting that they have located an inmate who reportedly escaped from jail.

30-year-old Benjamin Frank Landa was able to escape from the jail on Thursday after he falsely identified himself as another inmate who was scheduled to be released that day.

Once the mistake was realized, staff members notified the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office searched the area.

“Witnesses state that Landa fled north into the wood line in the area of Zahorsky Woods after seeing law enforcement in the area,” officials say.

He was eventually located in the Sullivan area and after a short foot chase, authorities were able to bring him back into custody.
