A man who accidentally fatally shot his pregnant wife after he thought she was an intruder is now dealing with the death of his wife and infant.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the infant that initially survived after being removed from the deceased mother’s womb following her shooting death has died.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Christine Weiss said despite intensive medical care, the female child passed away at the hospital Wednesday.
