(ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL)– The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s office is asking the public to avoid the area of Indian River Drive as crews work to repair the roadway and clear debris and downed power lines.
Hurricane Nicole made landfall just north of Hutchinson Island,
early Thursday before fizzling out into a tropical storm as it moved north.
The storm brought storm surge and wind damage to several parts of the east coast.
While the debris may be cleared out in days, authorities are reporting that repairs to the road could take several weeks. Residents are being advised to take alternate routes.
