Authorities in Palm Beach County are increasing their presence on school campuses in the wake of the school shooting in Texas.
The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office announced the safety measure on their Facebook page Wednesday:
“Our hearts break for the City of Uvalde in Texas. We are praying for the families of the teacher and the 14 students who were killed,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.
In addition to the announcement from PBSO, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, The Port St. Lucie Police Department, and police in Boca Raton are also increasing their presence on school grounds:
“The safety of our children is our top priority and we are committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for all students,” police said on Facebook.
19 children and several adults were killed on Tuesday after a gunman barricaded himself inside of a classroom at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, and opened fire.
The gunman was eventually taken out by police.
