Louisiana Congressman-elect Luke Letlow has died due to complications from COVID-19, his spokesperson said on Tuesday.
Letlow was diagnosed on December 19 with COVID-19 and was hospitalized that day. Three days later, he was transferred to the ICU where he spent a week battling the virus.
Letlow, 41, died days before he would have been sworn into office.
Republican Rep. Ralph Abraham says he is devastated by the loss. Letlow was survived by his wife Julia and two young children.
