A 59-year-old Alaska man has been arrested for the murder of his wife after a tour group found the missing woman’s body.
Robert Bridges was taken into custody on June 10th after a group exploring an area near the Yukon River bridge located the woman’s body just off of a highway on May 25.
Alaska State Troopers say Bridges reported his wife Kimberly Bridges missing from their home in October of 2021 but found his report about her disappearance suspicious.
“Troopers began a thorough search for Kimberly, however, they were unable to locate her,” the Alaska Department of Public Safety said in a report. “The nature of the report was highly suspicious.”
Authorities also reported that around the time of his wife’s disappearance, Bridges rented several vehicles including a U-haul pickup truck and was seen transporting a mattress that was folded in half and bound together.
Authorities took Bridges into custody after The State Medical Examiner ruled his wife’s death a homicide.
He is being held on a $1 million bail.
