Hundreds turn out for state officer’s emotional sendoff

PORT ST. LUCIE- Friends, well-wishers, and hundreds of law enforcement officers from around Florida converged on the Treasure Coast Friday to say goodbye to Kyle Patterson, a state wildlife officer who died June 9th in a traffic accident.

Services for the 35 year old Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission officer were held at Christ Fellowship Church in Port St. Lucie where an American flag was folded by a police honor guard and presented to his wife.

A motorcade will transport his body to the town of Christmas in Central Florida where he will be laid to rest.

Patterson died in a wrong-way crash on June 9th when a Tampa woman driving east in the westbound lanes of Okeechobee Road collided with his unmarked pickup truck in rural St. Lucie County.

He was later pronounced dead at Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce.

In addition to his wife, Senior Investigator Kyle Patterson leaves behind two young children, Kole and Kinsley.
