WEST PALM BEACH- A man who was out looking for a lost rooster made a gruesome discovery in the 1400 block of North Sapodilla Avenue on Tuesday night.

While crossing a vacant lot just before 6:00 PM, the man saw what looked like a bone sticking out of the dirt and upon closer inspection saw it was a human skull.

He immediately called West Palm Beach police.

Crime Scene technicians initially recovered the skull and a pair of arm bones according to West Palm Beach PD spokesman Mike Jachles.

“It’s too early to tell the gender of the skeletal remains or if there was any trauma,” Jachles said at a press conference on Wednesday.

He also said the remains appear to have been buried.

The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner along with a forensic anthropologist and the Human Identity and Trauma Analysis Unit from Florida Gulf Coast University are assisting homicide detectives in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Palm Beach Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
