The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a body was found buried inside of a shallow grave inside of the Hungryland Preserve.
The discovery was made Thursday afternoon at the park located in St. Lucie.
Officials say they were first called to the park after a gator was spotted with a human arm in it’s mouth.
When authorities arrived, they found the arm next to the animal who was guarding it.
Another body part was then located on the bank of a different canal.
Officials eventually stumbled upon the shallow grave containing the remainder of the body parts.
Authorities have identified the victim as 43-year old Dustin Davis Mills of St. Lucie County.
Investigators reported that they believe Mills was the victim of a homicide and that the suspect or suspects used an sharp instrument to dismember the body.
