The Hollywood Police Department is mourning the death of another officer after the officer took his own life Monday morning.
Hollywood Police Lt. John Graham was found around 3:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the Broward Mall in Plantation, Florida.
Authorities say they received a phone call about a vehicle that had been parked in the parking lot and a body laying next to it.
“He’s advising of a black Charger in the Parking Lot Number 3 that has been there for 20 or 30 minutes,” said a 911 dispatcher. “It appears that there’s a male laying there on the ground outside of the vehicle.”
Authorities pronounced Graham dead at the scene.
The Hollywood Police Department released a statement regarding Graham’s death:
“It has been an extremely sad day for the Hollywood Police Department. One of our officers who was off duty, unexpectedly passed away. Plantation Police is handling the death investigation. No other information will be given at this time.”
Hollywood Police have lowered their flags to half-staff, while officers are wearing black bands across their badges as they mourn the lives of those lost.
