An 87-year-old woman has died after she was lured outside of her apartment by a neighbor looking to kill his neighbors.

The incident occurred over the weekend in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Officials say gunman 26-year-old Zachary Arnold armed himself and began screaming for everyone to come outside:

“He was yelling and screaming: ‘You guys get out here, come out here, everyone get out of this building right now,’” witness Janey Peugh, told reporters.

Two women exited their apartments to find Arnold standing there with a gun. Both women were said to have fled back inside their homes, however,  Lois Hicks did not close her door behind her when she ran back inside her home.

Arnold then followed her into the apartment and shot her multiple times.

He then continued shooting at apartments until another neighbor grabbed a hunting rifle and shot and killed Arnold.

It is unclear what caused Arnold to go on a shooting rampage.
