A grandmother from Tennessee has been arrested and charged after she reportedly stole her grandchild’s Christmas presents from under the tree and sold them for cash.
The incident was reported on Dec. 18th.
According to the report, the mother of the child contacted police after she noticed that her child’s Nintendo Switch was no longer under the Christmas tree. During an investigation, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office were able to identify a Nintendo Switch that was recently pawned at the Winfield Pawn Shop as the one purchased by the family.
Authorities then identified the person who sold the game system as 43-year-old Amy D. Best, the child’s grandmother.
Other items are said to have gone missing as well, however, authorities are still working to determine in Best had anything to do with their disappearance.
She has since been taken to the county jail, where she has been charged with theft under $1,000.
