“Grandma, Something Happened to My Head;” Boy Shot after Leaving Drive-Thru

A boy who was riding in a car with his grandma ended up being wounded in a shooting between two other men earlier this month.

The shooting happened in Boynton Beach on July 15, authorities say.

Police arrested 29-year-old Valdanio Louis on charges of attempted first-degree murder, leaving the scene of a crash, and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

According to investigators, Louis, who was driving a Mitsubishi SUV, stopped at an intersection near a KFC restaurant on NE 1st Street and opened fire on a man in a Mercedes behind him.

Officials say the gunfire struck a car being driven by a woman who just left KFC with her grandson.

The woman told police she heard the gunshot, and then her grandson said, “Grandma, something happened to my head.”

She says she saw blood coming from the boy’s nose and mouth. Family members rushed him to the hospital, and there is no word on his condition.

Louis crashed the SUV and ran from the scene. Officers found his wallet and identification card in the vehicle.

Surveillance video from nearby businesses showed Louis shooting at the Mercedes.

After the incident, police said Louis went to his son’s mother’s house to take a shower.

While there, he told her that he just got into a car accident.

However, an informant also told police Louis admitted to the shooting.
