Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced in a video today that his wife Casey DeSantis is now cancer free after undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

“This is exactly the type of news we had hoped for, she still has more to do, but I’m confident she’s going to make a full recovery,” the Governor said in his statement.

Casey DeSantis, 41, received the diagnosis in October of last year and underwent chemotherapy treatment.

The First Lady of Florida received her last round of chemo in January and Gov. DeSantis said at that time that she had ‘responded very well’ to the treatment.

The Centers for Disease Control say about 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer during their lifetime, and women are urged to get screened early and often.

“For all the women out there who are going through breast cancer right now, you can overcome this,” Gov. DeSantis said.
