A 17-year-old good Samaritan and an 18-year-old driver have died after a vehicle plunged into a canal.
The incident occurred Tuesday night near the Residence of Sawgrass Mills area in Sunrise, Florida.
Authorities say they were contacted about the incident around 10:30 p.m.
The 17-year-old good Samaritan was walking with his mother when the 18-year-old driver drove into the canal.
The 17-year-old immediately jumped into the water and attempted to save the driver.
Officials say the 17-year-old was unsuccessful in getting the driver out of the vehicle and had to be pulled from the water himself.
Witnesses told reporters that first responders struggled to find both teens because it was late and the water was dark.
Authorities located the 17-year-old and rushed him to the hospital where he later died.
The teen driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not publicly identified the victims.
