GoFundMe campaign for 13-year-old killed in crash west of Boca reaches $20,000

The loss of a child is devastating and extremely stressful to process.

Random acts of kindness warms the heart.

A GoFundMe campaign, started two days ago to cover the funeral expenses for a 13-year-old boy killed in a terrible two-car wreck west of Boca Raton, is already at the $20,000 goal.

Sebastian Rivas was one of the 5 people killed in the early Sunday morning crash near the Boca Del Mar development, police said.

Sebastian was in a Hyundai Genesis with seven other teenagers, the car flipped and landed upside down on top of a 2014 Mercedes C250, police said.

The GoFundMe Page was started by Sue Makenian, she told The Palm Beach Post that Sebastian was her daughter Charlie’s best friend. The two, she added, “adored each other.”

“Sebastian was known for his kind heart, deep connection with his family and friends around him, a big brother to his sister Emilia, an excellent student, and one who’s smile radiated in every room he walked into, “Makenian wrote on the GoFundMe campaign. “Sebastian was and always will be remembered and so deeply missed.

Family, friends, teachers and others have truly supported and donated to Sebastian’s GoFundMe page.

As of Wednesday the GoFundMe campaign for Sebastian has exceeded it’s 20,000 goal.

Makenian wanted to due her part to honor his memory and help soften the blow of funeral costs and give Sebastian the funeral he deserves.
