A gas station clerk in Lake Park considers himself lucky to be alive, after a violent encounter took place Wednesday night.
It all happened at the Mobil gas station located in the 900 block of 10th St.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the unidentified clerk was shot in the upper thigh during an attempted robbery at about 11:20 p.m.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Teri Barbera explains that the gunman held the employee at gunpoint and demanded he open the safe.

The gun discharged and struck the clerk as he tried to fight off the would-be robber.
Barbera says the victim is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The gunman, who got away from the scene with nothing, is described as bald, in his late 20s or 30s, and about 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a slender build.
