Funnel cloud almost touched down neat I-95 and Lake Worth Beach

A funnel cloud almost formed close to Interstate 95 in Lake Worth Beach, Wednesday morning.

This event came just as Florida officially reached its first day of hurricane season.

10-year-old Maddox Zaskey, caught an up-close video of the event while he and his father were driving southbound on I-95, toward 6th Avenue South, WPTV reports.

Maddoxs’ father and boat captain, Christopher Zaskey, has had some experience with extreme weather and was aware of the potential danger if the funnel cloud touched down.

In the video captured and posted by the Maddox family, the father said, “That thing is twisting pretty good. We gotta watch out,”

Fortunately the funnel cloud broke apart before touching down.
