French President slapped in the face by spectator

(Valence, France) — Two men are under arrest after one of them open-hand slapped French President Emmanuel Macron in the face as he approached a crowd of spectators.
The world leader was wearing a mask at the time, but the sound of the slap was audible as were the gasps from the surprised crowd.
Video of the incident is circulating on social media.
Macron was visiting southeast France and walked up to a barrier lined with spectators to shake hands.
A man shouted “down with Macronism” and then “b*tch-slapped” him before being overcome by police and other spectators. France is beginning to reopen its economy after pandemic-related closures.
