A Grinch set fire last night to the he red, white and blue-themed FOX Christmas tree that stood 50 foot high and was decorated with 10,000 glass ornaments and 100,000 lights.
Now all that remains is a burned out shell of the tree structure.
FOX says they will rebuild the tree.

NYPD officers arrived at the scene and saw the suspect, identified as Craig Tamanaha, running from the Midtown location. They took him into custody before filing charges that included criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and arson. City firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze.

Tamanaha, 49, is reportedly homeless and may suffer from mental illness.

There were no reported injuries in the fire. Police said the investigation was ongoing.
