Update: Fort Pierce police say they have a person of interest in a hit-and-run case that left a 10-year old girl dead. FPPD also says they have located the offending vehicle.

Officials in Fort Pierce are currently searching for a driver who struck a young girl with their vehicle and fled the scene. The incident occurred around 6:35 a.m. near the intersection of Skylark Drive and Oleander Avenue.

Authorities say the 10-year-old identified as Jaceny Berenice Rodriguez-Gonzalez was walking to her bus when a person driving a white vehicle ignored the school bus stop arms and flashing lights and blew past the bus.
