FORT PIERCE, FL– A 26-year-old man is now behind bars after he fatally shot his girlfriend.
The incident occurred on Saturday around 3:00 a.m. in the 4500 block of Timber Ridge Lane.
When the Fort Pierce Police Department responded to the scene, they found a woman who had been shot several times, dead in the driveway of a home.
Authorities later determined that the woman’s boyfriend Robert Castro was responsible for her murder.
Despite fleeing the scene after the shooting, Castro turned himself into the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
He is facing one count of first-degree murder.
It is unclear why Castro shot the victim.
