Former Saint Glenn Foster dies after being taken into police custody


Former Saints defensive end Glenn Foster Jr. was arrested in Alabama and died after he was taken into police custody. He was 31. According to the medical examiner’s office in Pickens County, Alabama, the case remains under investigation. Pickens County jail records say Foster was booked on counts of reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and attempting to elude police. He was re-booked on Sunday on counts of simple assault and robbery. He died on Monday. No details have been released about the circumstances of either arrest or his death. He signed as a free agent with the Saints in 2013 and only played with them until 2014. Foster, who was battling a bipolar diagnosis has had many tough struggles. Foster’s family believes officials denied him life-saving care, that could have saved his life. He appeared to be experiencing a mental health episode. “We want justice for our son,” said Foster’s father, Glenn Foster Sr. “It’s unfair. It’s inhumane. It’s just not right.”
