
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the death of a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver who was found dead inside of his hotel room.
The body of 38-year-old Vincent Jackson was discovered on Monday around 11:38 a.m. at the Homewood Suites in Brandon, Florida.
Police say Jackson, who lived in Tampa, checked into the hotel room on January 11th and has been living there since.
Jackson’s family reported him missing on Wednesday, with a formal report being filed on Thursday. The missing person’s alert was canceled, however, once authorities confirmed Jackson’s well-being on Friday.
While not much is known about the incident at this time, police did report that they did not find any apparent sides of trauma.
“My heart aches for the many loved ones Vincent Jackson leaves behind, from his wife and children to the Buccaneers nation that adored him,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. ” Mr. Jackson was a devote man who put his family and community above everything else, “Chronister continued.
Jackson’s wife and family asked for privacy through his the Jackson in Action 83 Foundation that Jackson started to support military families and the community.
The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office is currently working to determine Jackson’s cause of death.
