(VERO BEACH, FL)– A 34-year-old woman is facing child abuse charges after locking the door on two children who left the home without her permission.
The incident occurred on Sunday, Oct. 16 around 5:00 p.m.
Authorities say the children reportedly left the home and went to a store for an hour.
When they came back, they found that the woman, Willie Davis, locked the front door.
Despite attempts to get someone to open the door, the children were left outside for a total of six hours.
Authorities were called to the residence and took Davis into custody.
According to the report, the children did not have access to water, shelter, or supervision while being locked outside. They also were said to be in a high crime area.
Davis is facing two charges of child abuse. She has since been released on bond.
