
A 42-year-old Pensacola woman is now facing charges after she allegedly burnt a child with a lighter.
Letonya Rinney-Rosado was said to have attacked the child on February 17 around 1 p.m.
According to reports, the child was said to have been arguing with someone else in the household about the television, Rinney-Rosado then grabbed the child, held them down and ignited a lighter to heat it up. Rinney-Rosado was then said to have pressed the got lighter to the child’s cheek to burn them.
While the 42-year-old was harming the child, the person who the child was arguing with told Rinney-Rosado to stop.
Rinney-Rosado then reportedly got off of the child and left the room.
The other person then gave the child an ice pack.
Authorities were eventually contacted about the case and asked to conduct a child welfare check.
According to the report, officials say there was five other children in the household and that they found the household lacked food.
They also took pictures of each injury and skin finding on the children.
Rinney-Rosado was arrested on child abuse charges and is being held at the Escambia County Jail under a $300,000 bond.
