
PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL–
A 27-year-old woman has been taken into custody after she intentionally struck a man riding a motorcycle before fleeing the scene.
The incident occurred just before 6:00 a.m. Thursday in the southbound lanes of State 77 near Court Martial Ranch Road.
The 47-year-old victim says he was driving his 2004 Yamaha motorcycle when the suspect Harley Hawthorne began following him in her 2000 Toyota Camry.
At some point, Hawthorne struck the victim from behind and fled north into Washington County.
The victim was thrown from his bike and left with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials in Panama City relayed the incident to Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who were able to locate Hawthorne.
Hawthorne was taken into custody during a traffic stop.
Two children were said to have been in the vehicle, and were turned over to a family member.
Hawthorne has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, and two counts of child neglect.
