(ORLANDO, FL)– A 16-year-old girl who has been missing for two months has been found dead.
The body of De’Shayla Ferguson was discovered with gunshot wounds outside of an Orlando home on Monday.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says that they responded to a residence around 7:00 p.m. after receiving information about a person who had been shot near a vehicle.
Authorities arrived to the area and pronounced Ferguson dead at the scene.
Officials were also able to quickly identify Ferguson because she had been reported missing on Aug. 12 after leaving a Department of Children and Families facility.
There is no word on Ferguson’s whereabouts from the time she went missing until the moment her body was found.
The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the situation and searching for the shooter:
“Be assured our homicide detectives are working diligently to find and arrest her killer,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
