A 15-year-old boy was airlifted to a hospital after he was reportedly bitten by a large marine animal.
According to the report, the teen was lobster diving in the Keys from a family boat when the incident occurred.
Officials say they were called to the area around 7:30 a.m. to due to a shark bite victim, however, they are unsure if the teen was actually bitten by a shark.
“It could have been a barracuda or a shark,” said Officer Bobby Dube, a spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. “I don’t know. It’s unconfirmed.”
The teen is now recovering in the hospital with bites to his left calf and ankle and also on his upper right thigh.
When asked if he saw what attacked him, the teen says he could not see because to water was murky and then it became bloody once he was bitten.
