(FL) – Florida is one of the top ten states in the country for the largest decrease in gas prices over the past week, according to AAA.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Florida is $4.55, which is lower than the national average.
Today’s national average of $4.89 is nine cents less than a week ago, 30 cents more than a month ago, and $1.80 more than a year ago.
Despite having a 15-cent decrease in price, Florida is not among the top 10 states with the cheapest gas.
South Carolina leads with $4.30 a gallon gas, Californians are paying the most for gas at $6.24.
The West Palm Beach-Boca Raton is the highest metro area in the state with an average of $4.73.
It is anticipated that fears of global recession have lead to a lower demand for oil and has dropped the price to $107 per barrel.
