TALLAHASSEE, Fla.– Govoner Ron DeSantis is being asked for more clarity on new abortion laws by Florida Democrats, WPTV reports.

This concern was addressed at a news conference in St. Petersburg where several Democrats asked the governor if he intends to move ahead with more abortion restrictions, beyond the new 15-week ban.

“He ought to be transparent with folks. He ought to be transparent with the people of Florida and let them know what his plans are. But, this is what he does. He doesn’t let folks know. He hides the ball. He dodges questions. He deflects.” said Rep. Michele Rayner, D-St. Petersburg.

DeSantis said in a Twitter post, “Florida will continue to defend its recently-enacted pro-life reforms against state court challenges, will work to expand pro-life protections, and will stand for life by promoting adoption, foster care, and child welfare,”

Some Florida Republicans like Rep. Webster Barnaby, R-Orange City, have expressed plans to ban abortion entirely.

The constitutionality of the abortion bill, or HB 5, is still being debated as Florida lawmakers assess the issue in a divided political landscape.
