(ORLANDO, FLA) — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and lawmakers are planning to let Disney World govern itself again. The Florida legislature voted in April to dissolve Disney’s 55-year-old status as a self-governing entity after former CEO Bob Chapek opposed a new state law that provided parents rights and say over what is being taught to their young children in school, especially sex.
So basically, DeSantis put Disney in a “time out,” like a parent grounding a child, and now state lawmakers are now working on a compromise that would allow Disney to keep the old arrangement in place with a few modifications and dependent on good behavior.
The return of Bob Iger as Disney CEO may help pave the way for a resolution.
